Gear.

Its major plus in this situation is you dont have to keep it forever if you dislike it later. I don't see you cutting off a tattoo to trade it in or sell it. Good gear raises in value down the road.

Gear can earn you more money to purchase tat.

Tat cannot be used as a source of income.

Permanent, over priced bodily disfiguration that you'll probably regret in a few years when its no longer as cool as you thought VS. Cool, useful, resellable items that will help you to make the music that you love.

i happen to be fanatical about tattoos and consider them a great form of art (this is, of course, excluding gay ass tribal and nautical stars and other bogus crap people get because they saw it on an ed hardy shirt).

but i also love music. the only thing tho, is that im goin on a deployment here real soon. so uh...i wont be able to play the new gear for half a year however i am thinking about the future and gigging when i go to school, which is gonna be right after i get back.

If you're completely sure you want the tattoo (like you're not going to hate it next year) then get that.. The likelihood is you'll want different gear in a year.. So you might aswell get the tats now.
