The Pit isn't that oblivious to the English language.

This song has so much to analyze, you could talk about it for days. In fact this song has too many double/triple/quadruple (etc.) meanings.

This.

The Raconteurs - Carolina Drama

"I'm not sure if there's a point to this story
But I'm going to tell it again
So many other people try to tell the tale
Not one of them knows the end

It was a junk house in South Carolina
Held a boy the age of ten
Along with his older brother Billy
And a mother and her father too
Who was a triple loser with some blue tattoos
That were given to him when he was young
And a drunk temper that was easy to lose
And thank god he didn't own a gun

Well, Billy woke up in the back of his truck
Took a minute to open his eyes
He took a peep into the back of the house
And found himself a big surprise
He didn't see his brother but there was his mother
With her red-headed head in her hands
While the boyfriend had his gloves wrapped around an old priest
Trying to choke the man

Billy looked up from the window to the truck
Threw up, and had to struggle to stand
He saw that red-necked bastard with a hammer
Turn the priest into a shell of a man
The priest was putting up the fight of his life
But he was old and he was bound to lose
The boyfriend hit as hard as he could
And knocked the priest right down to his shoes

Well, now Billy knew but never actually met
The preacher lying there in the room
He heard himself say, "That must be my daddy"
Then he knew what he was gonna do
Billy got up enough courage, took it up
And grabbed the first blunt thing he could find
It was a cold, glass bottle of milk
That got delivered every morning at nine

Billy broke in and saw the blood on the floor, and
He turned around and put the lock on the door
He looked dead into the boyfriend's eye
His mother was a ghost, too upset to cry, then
He took a step toward the man on the ground
From his mouth trickled out a little audible sound
He heard the boyfriend shout, "Get out!"
And Billy said, "Not till I know what this is all about"
"Well, this preacher here was attacking your mama"
But Billy knew just who was starting the drama
So Billy took dead aim at his face
And smashed the bottle on the man who left his dad in disgrace, and
The white milk dripped down with the blood, and the
Boyfriend fell down dead for good
Right next to the preacher who was gasping for air
And Billy shouted, "Daddy, why'd you have to come back here?"
His mama reached behind the sugar and honey, and
Pulled out an envelope filled with money
"Your daddy gave us this," she collapsed in tears
"He's been paying all the bills for years"
"Mama, let's put this body underneath the trees
and put Daddy in the truck and head to Tennessee"
Just then, his little brother came in
Holding the milk man's hat and a bottle of gin singing,

La la la la, la la la la, yeah
La la la la, la la la la, yeah
La la la la, la la la la, yeah
La la la, la la la...
La la la la, la la la la, yeah
La la la la, la la la la, yeah
La la la la, la la la la, yeah"

There, I just made your homework easier than breathing.

There isn't that much to analyse, it's just a simple ballad with a simple story....

Exactly, that's why it'll be so easy to tell what it's about.

Still waiting on that "cash money" I talked about earlier, TS.

I'd probably choose something by Leonard Cohen, maybe The Stranger Song. Alternatively, I might go all modern and do something by the Arctic Monkeys. Their lyrics are actually really good, although you won't be able to read many high-flown metaphors into them because they tend to be about standard real-life situations. However, they're so well written and clever that you should be able to say a lot about them.

You can tell me your troubles, I'll listen for free
My regulars trust me it seems
You can come and see uncle to get through the week
Leave your pledges with me to redeem

Some folk sell their bodies for ten bob a go
Politicians go pawning their souls
Which doesn't make me look too bad, don't you know
Me with my heart full of holes

All my yesterdays broken, a watch with no face
All battered and old
Bits of the movement all over the place
And a heart full of holes

Brass knuckles and banjos are out on the town
at the knees-up in Teddy Boys’ Row
The gold block and tackle tells the time upside down
Rock n’ roll? Well, I don’t know
Dead people’s wedding gifts walk out the door
A clarinet squeals to be free
Accordions hop from the shelves to the floor -
Start playing their polkas to me

There’s a ringing of bells, a dunderhead’s curse
Fingers are pointing at you
And you take work in hell and be glad it’s not worse
and you get to the back of the queue
Handcuffs and hunting knives clang on the bars
Air pistols shoot out the lights
I’ve a whole Wailing Wall of electric guitars
could shatter the windows
down Brick Lane tonight

If one of us dies, love, I think I’ll retire
see my boys and my beautiful girls
A Garden of Eden, no gates or barbed wire
who knows, maybe gates made of pearls
Well, if we go to heaven, and some say we don’t
but if there’s a reckoning day
please God, I’ll see you and maybe I won’t
I’ve a bag packed to go either way

Redeeming your pledge, dear, I’ll keep it for you
It’s not going to go anywhere
But your soul, your soul, that is not what I do
There’s not a lot I can do there
I remember the officer’s watch in my hand:
‘Repair it or die’ I was told
It’s a wonder to me - I still don’t understand
why I ever survived to be old
with a heart full of holes
A heart full of holes
A heart full of holes

Can anyone tell me what this song is about?

Cassie Eats Cockroaches by Acid Bath

I feel the wetness of her tongue that slides across my skin
The viruses crawl over me and feel for some way in
Cassie loves to swallow, this bleeding will not stop
I left cassie hollow, cut you with my ****

Cassie likes it in her hand, Cassie's dead inside
I came to **** the open wound, so hold it open wide
Cassie loves to swallow, this bleeding will not stop
I left cassie hollow, cut you with my ****

Show it to me, spread your legs
Don't you ****ing look at me
Show it to me, spread your legs
You are so ****ing suave
Let's ****!

Take me into the ocean, lay me out on her shore
Wake me when the sun burns out and we'll run forever more
We're all gonna die tomorrow, the freaks are screaming burn it down
She can't feel the weather, I can't touch the ground

Pale and twitching, twisting to the cold dance
Watching the room grow old, a funeral romance
Somewhere, someone's screaming that the world's gone
Smear me with your blood and let these dead boys sing their grave songs
Suck

Slide across the warm red floor to meet me
Lock the bathroom door before they crawl to eat me
Cut her throat and whisper that we're going home
Twitching to the cold dance, they suck the meat from her bones
Suck
suck
suck

Seriously though, my brother had to do this same project last year and he just did the first 4 minutes of At Giza by Om:

Rise aviator - sun will follow.
Aperture on door the wave form school.
Sentient ground of the light shrine shining.
Aperture on door the lind-hymn stone.

Sentient ground of the light shrine shining.
Aperture of door the lind-hymn stone.
The orbits arms oscillate to freedom.
Params the shore of celestial sea.

And grant to me - a light to see - and pilgrimage to mountain of the votaric form.
And lighten pon day - the solarics raise - falls upon the ziggurat electron school.
And reap upon field - the host moon fade away - glides the aeronaut toward the object form.

And lighten pon day - as scintillate rays - augurate arrival of a seraphic form.
From Lebanon reels - the obelisk seen - called now inverse upon the currenter-sign.
The matter form wanes - the host moon fades - takes into the sky ascends the freedomward dove.
The rite of fall sealed - descendant orb hails her - down to the ground of electron form.

And travel under twin suns rays - the host-moon fades - takes into the clesiast at oracle school.
An epison raise - the pole star fades - wakes into availed light of aurican form.
To reach a suns rays - through glowing bronze grace - leaves the lake and rises toward empyrean sun.
The swans array - the crane stands veiled grace - tunnement to the omen of the object form.

And travel on toward the lighten pon day - on through a spine's gates - climbs the silken thread to cross a silvering sun.
The Orphic glow seen - as aural sounds ring - climbant to throne within on spine's attuned prow.
Empyrean rays - engulf the nine gates - dove ascends to freedom through a lantern filled sky.
Awakens from field - availed light's salving grace heralds arrival of the solar-object form.
