Today I traded my Peavey Classic 50 for...

A Peavey Heritage VTX and an Ibanez Blazer.

The amp is honestly loads better for me than the Classic 50, which was really thin sounding at high volumes, didn't cut through the mix, and had really low clean headroom. Old 80's MIA Peaveys are incredibly underrated (and dirt cheap). This one is a 130 watt hybrid (tube power, SS pre) and it has headroom for days. The EQ is very responsive and it even has an onboard phaser. I'm really impressed. The cleans are kinda American-sounding but I can't really put a finger on the onboard gain... it's not that great but I use pedals for gain so it's not of any consequence.

I'm equally impressed with the guitar. It's from 1981, and for a guitar that's nearly 30 years old it's phenomenal. It seems like it was more or less a mid-level or even budget guitar back in the day but based on research I've done it seems like the pickups aren't stock. I needed a single coil guitar and this fits the bill remarkably well. And the 9-way switching is a major plus.

9 way switching?

What are the 9 positions?

Ahh, I meant 6 position It's a regular 5 position switch plus a toggle for the neck pickup so you get the additional combination of neck + bridge.

Do the mod for the 13 way pickup selector. I forget where I saw it, but it has the same set up you do, plus switches to throw the pickups in and out of phase for even more combos.....sorry I can't get you a link or anything.

Well originally I didn't have plans, but now I do I will definitely look into 13 way switching. And the output jack is a bit wobbly too, so I'm going to open up the guitar next time I change strings. I'm also trying to figure out what the pickups are, because they aren't stock

I'll have to find a schematic. I'm not very experienced with strat-style pickup switching, since I'm only used to working with the electronics in my Artcore.
