More like backpacking really. Me and a few friends are going into the woods for a few days for an english project with only a few small items that can fit into a backpack. We want to keep this as simple as possible and next to zero technology. We've already thought of some basics.

Obviously everyone in the pit is a grizzled survival expert with more than a few moose heads hanging over their fireplace.

Suggestions and *constructive* comments.
I already know to look out for pedobear, it doesn't need repeating.

So far:
Knives
Hatchet
Water
String/rope
Tarp
extra layers/waterproof clothes
change of socks
compass
some cloth
lighter
Waterproof Lightsource
Ziplock bags
Toilet paper

Bring a frying pan. Seriously. I mean, how else are you going to cook what you catch?

I can't believe nobody suggested an obvious item:

a waterproof flashlight

a headlamp would be better

get a waterproof bag to put all of your stuff in, if need be

I want to. Haven't had time. Next weekend. This weekend I'm way too busy with Halloween shenanigans.

3 or 4 grams of salvia, a blowtorch lighter, meditation mats.

That is all.

do what he said except something that will have a longer trip like shrooms

We might bring some rice and a pan to cook it in but we're putting our money on fishing and rabbits. As for a tent we're not sure if we want to do that or challenge ourselves with making a shelter out of the enviroment.

Yeah a headlamp would be useful too.

also some suggestions I have from my experiences during boy scouts and just going camping on my own:

a small first aid kit (bandaids at least. maybe neosporin to help keep infection out if you get a cut)

weather for different conditions. layers are important. if you have too much on and get hot it is easier to just take things off than if you are cold and don't have something to put on. Basically plan for it to be colder than you expect it to be.

non-cotton clothing-drys faster if it gets wet. Same for socks.

some sort of rain protection. either a rain coat or a poncho.

wear a hat

plenty of water (I hope this is obvious. Or take water sanitation tablets)

A plastic trash bag or two to put things in if it starts raining. You don't want your clothes to get wet.

That is about all I can think of right now. I'll add more if I think of something else.

That's fine, but you better be confident that you can get the fish and rabbits. If you want to build a shelter make sure you either try doing it before you go, or at least do a lot of research into making shelters.

Making a shelter won't be a problem for us. Hunting is the only weak spot. I can skin and prep a rabbit or fish pretty well, the only problem i can see is finding and catching them.

No guns
I know it isn't supposed to be easy, that's kinda the point of the project. But a fishing rod/line is definitely being considered.
