Hey guys,

I recently got to use a Tascam recorder and for my first ever solo recording session I did a version of Jed's Other Poem (Beautiful Ground) by Grandaddy. No backing tracks.

The intro was done by putting a microphone up to a door, slamming it, then stomping to get the footsteps. The robot voice is me speaking into a Digitech Synth Wah pedal.

The same effect is used during the song. I first did the guitar track (some Gibson Jumbo through a Fender Acoustasonic with Chorus and Reverb), then layered on the robot vocals (Microphone through the Acoustasonic with Chorus and Reverb to the Synth Wah). During that track, I held the Synth Wah in my hand and adjusted the envelope live during the song. Above that, I have clean vocals with Reverb, a clapping track, and two live synths (both from a Casio, one is the actual synth bass and the other is the birds during the bridge.)
I'd like to grow up to be Charles Thompson.
