August 29

As we lay peacefully and look at the sky,
A flicker of joy creeps into our eyes.
Creole in our hearts, mardigras breathed by all,
Trumpets fill the quarter, like times square at the drop of the ball.

We dance through the streets, color in all directions,
Painted faces of every type of complexion.
Our city never sleeps, we play behind the seawall.
We’re wandering with no worries at all.

Chorus:
We will be okay, no matter where we are,
Sitting under the stars and below the sea.
The world is strange and can be more than bizarre,
But just you and me, we can cut ourselves free.

The sky can change, just like a human soul,
That’s when Pandora loses hope and control.
When there is one crack, everything can break free,
Flipping our lives to nothing but pieces of debris.

With the world at rage I don’t know where you are,
The city is swept away, foul waters from afar.
We are all lost and confused, frantic scenes in the eye,
Nothing left, but I know that I will find you where you lie.

Chorus:
We will be okay, no matter where we are,
Sitting under the stars and below the sea
The world is strange and can be more than bizarre
But just you and me, we can cut ourselves free.
