I'm curious to see other people's opinions on difficulty of guitar solos, since most people are better at certain techniques than others (and vice versa) and this affects your perception on how hard a solo is.

So I basically chose 12 well known solos and ranked them on how hard it is for me to play them, lets say, 95% correct (so up to speed, correctly, capturing emotionally intensity (Put this here because I know someone is going to mention it for the comfortably numb solo) , misses only one or two notes on each pass). I cant play three of the solos on the list up to speed (but I have worked on them mercifully ), but included them here anyways.

Here is my ranking, from easiest to hardest:

Stairway to Heaven
Enter Sandman
Comfortably Numb
Sweet Child of Mine
Fade to Black
No More Tears
Mr Crowley
Crazy Train
One
Cliffs of Dover
Eruption
Far Beyond the Sun
For the Love of God
Current Gear

Bogner Uberschall
Mesa Dual Rectifier (Old Version)
Orange Closed Back 2x12 Cab with V30's
PRS Custom 24 Top 10 with 57/08 pickups
Schecter Hellraiser
Breedlove Atlas AD20
A bunch of pedals

I'd put Crazy Train and Eruption a lot lower.

Why does it matter?

Do you play those songs because you like them, or so that you can tell people you play music that is "difficult"?

Besides it's very subjective.

I play those songs because it is a challenge to myself, and I am merely curious as to how difficult other people think those songs are.

This thread wouldn't make any sense without the "subjective " part anyways

My question is why do you want to play those songs in the first place? I think they all are pretty overrated overplayed and pretty much suck. Especially G&R

Far Beyond the sun is the hardest, getting every note clean and to master malmsteens vibrato takes skill. Cliffs of dover should be higher than eruption too
#12
Stairway to Heaven
Enter Sandman
Sweet Child of Mine
Fade to Black
Comfortably Numb (I'm terrible at those big bends, so it's a bitch for me, especially the first solo)
No More Tears
Eruption
One (First two are easy, the final one's quite nasty though)
Crazy Train
Mr Crowley (I'm rubbish at sweeps, by the looks of the tab it's got quite a few in there)
Far Beyond the Sun is about the same level as Cliffs of Dover from listening.
For the Love of God

IMO, from easiest to hardest to nail. No idea about No More Tears.

Eruption shouldn't be that close to for the love of god, but all of these aren't really musically "challenging".

doing a harry partch piece transposed to guitar, now that's challenging.

Which of his pieces have you "transposed"? (I think you meant transcribed btw)

Also, just curious if any of you guys claiming that Eruption is easy can actually play it. (meaning authentically.....accurately)
