1) They're cheap guitars for beginners. Every company copies Fender designs for their entry-level guitars.
2) Dean have made Avalanche guitars before, up till about 2005, if I recall correctly.
Coincidentally, Dimebag died in december 2004, so Dean probably really cashed in off his death the following year, so much that they no longer needed cheap guitars in their lineup.

I don't think that link worked out for you. And I never really liked the brand anyway

I've never liked dean guitars, the demonater? That shape just looks stupid to me, I'm just more into the simple body shapes i guess.

It's not Dime's fault they cashed in from his death.

Granted, he did design the Razorback. He cut the shape from a block of foam and sent it to them. They were meant to deliver the prototype to him the day after he died.

The original guitar was like a tribute to him, but it sold so well, they decided to blow it out of proportion. Marketting: serious business.

A lot of people start off loving the crazy body shapes and pointyness of guitar brands like dean and b.c. rich. Then after some time playing them, you pickup something more simple like a fender strat or a les paul, and fall in love with the simpleness. I used to only find crazy designed and pointy guitars awesome, then I got my Jackson DKMG (strat style shape) and I love it. So much more comfotable to play, and not as heavy. Plus it still has a pointy headstock

It's a subliminal thing, but the shape of the Strat, to me is very feminine. The body, contoured like that of a woman's, and well.. where you play is where the business would be.

The tele is very masculine, solid, chunk simple, gritty and probably the most phallic shaped headstock of any guitar. PLEASE don't post the wangcaster, its gross.

I'd I have loved to seen Freud's analysis of them both, and as they say, sex sells!

gotta agree to this!

when I started playing I wanted the BC RICH/Dimebag sigs alot because they look mean. What was I thinking!?!?!? I got a Jackson Kelly instead which i call the sexier more smooth version of the Explorer. Don't have it anymore sadly. But my next electic is definitely going to be a Jackson KE5, simple, still mean looking and goddamn sexy!

Really? I always heard that when Jackson got bought out DAVE wanted to have a new guitar but Jackson was going to take too long, so he headed over to ESP, which gave him a better deal.

Or maybe that was Alexi. Or maybe it was both of them.

Dave's signature guitar is the only model from Dean I like. I think it's that obnoxious headstock they have on pretty much every "metal" model. Just look at Michael Amott's sig, The body shape is nice, and the paint/graphics looks awesome, but then the bloody headstock looks retarded.

^I don't know about Dave, but I'm pretty sure that CoB's guitars got stolen, and then Jackson said they couldn't have new guitars for them for a lengthy period of time and ESP offered to get them new guitars quick....that's what I heard at least.

Yeah, I guess. I don't know what it was like in the 80's.

Although Randy did use the prototypes for that guitar live a bunch of times. Dimebag never played a Razorback.

I love telecasters, and poontang.
I like the tone more than the looks I guess, and I also play a strat.

An angled Double-dick, maybe

For some reason, a lot of people see the headstock and think of a penis, even though it doesn't resemble one. I guess many people like to think of penises.
RANDOM FACT: people complained about the headstock since the introduction of the telecaster model, only back then they were more conservative and said it looked like a bare foot.
