ive been wanting a guitar with a bigsby for a while, but i dont really want to buy a new guitar since the new amp is coming very soon!! but ive seen pictures of explorers with bigsbys on it..

and i was wondering if i could do it on my guitar. what model would i need and would it be difficult to install myself, or should i get someone to do it.

would this model fit?

Yes, a B5 would fact. If you look up something called a Vibramate you can actually install a B5 right onto your Explorer without drilling any holes in the body by using the holes for your stoptail, and it's completely reversible.
Skeet UK is awesome, he can get WD Music parts discounted.

is the vibramate the actually piece? or is it somthing to help instal the b5

EDIT: read the article, seems pretty nice. looks like some drilling still must be done?

yikes! costs 325 for it to come in gold, but only like 200 in silver.
EDIT: thats actually off the website. you can get the b5for like 100 off ebay. and 70 bucks for the vibramate.

A Vibramate is just a bracket, you still have to buy the actual Bigsby itself. It won't take any drilling whatsoever, assuming you have a Tuneomatic and a Stoptail.

I have found a Gold Vibramate for about $60 on Ebay, and the Bigsby B5 Gold for $130.

So lets say; for 200 bucks your settled.

I prefere buying a "cheap" LTD with floyd then, for those few times I would use it (and I think I don't like the looks of it).

$200 for a tremolo on your current guitar or $250 for a brand new LTD MH-50 with floyd. Ofcoarse it isn't the same quality but I won't use it that often anyway.
