ok so i own a white macbook that i got at Christmas, 2007, which runs a 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor. i just purchased 4GB memory from OWC (2- 2GB modules), and upon installation nothing happens. i can hear the hard drive engage, and my power light on front turns on, but my display stays black. when i take out one of the modules and put in a 512mb card that i had just taken out, the computer boots up fine, and the same when i put in the other 2GB card and a 512mb card. i was under the impression that the model i had can support 4BG ram... did i do something wrong?

check the timings match those of the motherboard memory slot's FSB, as well as the processor.

get cpu-z from http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php

(check google if you want to see that it's legit)

take screenshots, post them here, then give me a link to the specs of the ram you bought, and I'll tell you if it's compatible with your system.

I thought you were having short-term memory lapses and I have the same problem.

Try reinstalling your os since you have a mac you can always use time machine afterward.

Imagine your a computer, you store bits of info vital to keep yourself running in your memory the some kid comes up and rips out your old memory and inserts new blank memory chips. You end up not knowing how to run yourself. Then the kid starts toying with you and gives you your memory back but only for brief stints so you get depressed and kill yourself.

I added the last part.

This is impossible. I've seen the commercials. Those things just work. No possibility of having problems. Trust me.

You don't need Mac ram. However, you do need the correct type of memory, which is DDR3, I believe.

Edit: woops I'm thinking of the current model specs.

For late 2007 you need a PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM module.

...modes and scales are still useless.
