Well I don't really know where to put this but anyway.

What are some pickups you guys would recommend for metal. I know this has been asked x100 times but I'm tired of the average pickups these days :P.

I have EMGs in my NJ Warlock, Evolutions in my Jem, and a SD JB in my Ibanez SA.

Any other recommendations?

I'm trying to find a real nice bridge pickup for my Jem as the bridge pup in it now just isn't doing it for heavy rock and above.

Budget?
Boutique or mass-market?

If you're looking at one pickup...

You can consider the Bare Knuckle Miracle Man, Painkiller & Warpig (very rhythm oriented)

Otherwise... on the cheaper scale
Seymour Duncan:
Custom Custom SH-11
Duncan Custom SH-5

DiMarzio
D-Activator
Breed
D Sonic
Super 2
Super Distortion

I might go for the Miracle Man.

It's a bit trebly for my taste. I'm looking for a nice thick tone but not muddy.

When you say thick... what do you mean?

I think the Miracle Man will balance out the Basswood on your JEM nicely. On my RG... the Nailbombs ended up sounding a little too smooth as the basswood absorbed a lot of the highs and lows.

I think what i'm really looking for is something that can handle drop tunings without getting really muddy.

And yeah I'm pretty sure it's the pickups. Emgs and the JBs sound better than the evolutions are drop tuning.

you can't go wrong with a Dimarzio D-sonic for drop tunings. Also the breed is still clear with drop tunings

The D Sonic is a very clear and articulate pickups that handles drop tunings easily.

I prefer the D Sonic over the Breed for drop tunings, but the D Sonic has a unique sound that you might or might not like.
