Are any of you here from Toronto, ON?

I've always loved the music scene we have here. I was just wondering to those of you who are also from Toronto think about it?

Have any favourite venues and local bands?

I'm from BC, and as much as we make fun of Toronto, I heard its actually pretty damn good.

What styles are dominant?

Yo Toronto here.

i love the El Mocambo, the Reverb, The Opera House, Circa, The Guvernment, Sound Academy (AKA The Docks), The Mod Club

I like the Annex Wreck Room and the Phoenix but theyre both in kinda sketch areas haha

as for musicians, a death metal band that just broke up recently that i knew and loved called Flesh on Fridays were from Toronto. Also, Deadmau5, progressive house dj .

i dunno, i like it around here music wise. Big music stores, lots of selection, big name artists come through often. all is good

^and just for the record, its Torontonian

edit: ^^ dude you played at the El Mo too? lmao i did a Supernova battle of the bands thing there, it was alright

You guys like huge venues. Not a fan of smaller intimate shows?

I personally find a huge diversity here to the point where nothing really sticks out other than what you see on Much Music.

It's not that I don't like small venues, it's just I'm not going to make a 2 hour drive to see some small band I haven't heard of. In my town though I sometimes go to the smaller places.

I was wondering if any of you guys can help me out...

Have any of you been to The Hideout on 484 Queen St. W. before? I was just wondering how does the venue look, the atmosphere, and sound quality?

I'm planning on going there for this Hook Sync Party event here http://www.stuffadpeoplelike.com/?page_id=115 on November 25th to see Young Rival and Creature perform.

The Rex in it's heyday was pretty darn awesome.
Anyone who thinks that music these days is dead doesn't listen to enough music.

deadmau5 and Drake are probably the two biggest Toronto products right now. But the culture in Toronto is too diverse to be able to have really only one music scene. There's like, a scene for every kind of music in T.O. you just gotta know where to look.
