The '70s had disco, '80s had hair metal, '90s had nu-metal and '00s had indie-pop, rap/r&b and metalcore/crabcore/corecore. Okay, I made the last one up, but still, what do you think next decade's immensely popular yet also greatly hated genre will be?

Personally, I vote for indiecore with rap vocals

i beg to differ.

I agree...if hair metal came back, I'm not sure what I'd do. I would probably never turn on a popular radio station again.

Right now I see the it same as it was in the 80's-90's. The 80's had a bunch of superficial popular bands that were more about the looks than the music, same with today. A bunch of bands that are mostly interesting to girls.

The bands in the 90's were less about looking pretty. I think the next trend will follow that pattern, they'll be more into the actual music.

Goth will come back.

Goth was was never particularly popular to begin with, I mean the only bands even somewhat associated with goth are the Cure and the Cult, and neither of them got really big until they started doing more mainstream sounding stuff.

We can only dream.

The way things are looking now, it's going to be hardcore/deathmetal/brutalcoremetal/screamo. Or just drone.

If grunge or 80s hair metal came back it would be amazing!

Although thrash metal would be sick to have back again in the spotlight haha

All modern artists will decide that they want to be big in every genre, and so everyone shall mix everything into one huge musical catastrophe: think countryraprockmetalpunkemoscreamojazzelectricmyheadisexplodingcore

or music will completely die and we'll go into musical rebirth: going back to listening to the sound of two rocks banging together, caveman style
