Few questions on 7 string guitars out of pure curiousity.

Where is the 7th string? Is it after the high E?

How would you read tabs with a 7 string guitar, would you even ever use it?

Does it make the neck way wider and harder to play?

Why do you honestly need a 7th string?

Just out of pure curiousity

just add an extra line even guitarpro can do that

Does it make the neck way wider and harder to play?

it makes the neck wider it jsut takes time getting used to it

Why do you honestly need a 7th string?

heavy metal music, more evil sound you can do more and get creative with an extra string in

just listen to jeff loomis miles of machines and you see why a 7 string is bad ass

7th string is after the low E. it allows the guitar to hit notes lower than E while keeping 6 strings standard tuned.

They play like any other guitar, just with another string.

why do you honestly need 6 strings? 5 strings? strings at all?

7 string tabs are written the way 6 string tabs are, but with another string.

So the low E in a 6 string tab would be the 2nd string down on a 7 string guitar

When Steve Vai and Ibanez were working on the Universe, they were originally going to put a high A, but the strings kept on breaking because of the tension, so they decided to do a low B instead. A lot of metal bands use 7's.
An Ibanez RG7321 is a fairly cheap (but still good) 7.
