I have been playing guitar for about 4 years now and have gotten to what i would say is "pretty good" at sweep picking, but now that i am actually in a band and help write solos i need to get better at soloing, unfortunatly...i am not a music theory genius. I can kind of write solos using scales and stuff like that, but for some stupid reason i dont know how to write sweeping solos. Is it still the same formula, improvising scales and finding what sounds good? I am completly lost, i would appreciate any help. Thanks!

Learn some theory, construct good sounding arpeggios, and execute.
