Alright, well as you all know the holidays are coming up soon. My family has decided to chip in and get me another nice guitar to play this year. They say that my limit is $500 (USD) from them, and i think by Christmas i could have maybe another $250 or so. Maybe more than that but that could be pushing it. I'm looking for some good recommendations in the price range of around $650 to $750. No higher.

The specs i want it to have...

-Either active pickups, or a really nice high output set of passives. I need 'em to be pretty high output. 2 humbuckers as well. I dislike most single coils. Although, a guitar with coil splitting would be a definite plus for me.

-Set neck, or neck through.

-24 frets.

-Stop tail or through strung. No tremolo please.

I play mostly metal, hard rock. Really heavy stuff. Some original music, some covers. About half and half really. My cover bands range from Metallica to Parkway Drive to Slayer and everything in between. Remember, i can't go above $750 but it could even be less than that. I don't know for sure yet. I would like to keep it new too, but i would look used if it is really worth it. I just don't want to have to deal with shipping, and there's never really anything much on the local craigslist here (The Cleveland Ohio area)

Okay well thanks in advance. I'd prefer if you'd post links but whatever works. Thanksss!

Anything specific. I have a schecter now and it's my fav guitar but i'd like some more specific models

well my favorite is the Schecter BlackJack ATX C-1 because it doesn't have those hideous inlays but you might also want to try the Hellraiser. Oh, and i forgot to mention before if you really want to stay below 750 but would consider shipping, check out Agile guitars. They will probably be the cheapest, nicest, usually neck-through guitars your gonna find. Here are a couple of guitars: http://www.rondomusic.com/septor627proebblack.html, http://www.rondomusic.com/product2857.html And if you decide you want a 7 string since you already have a 6 you like here's one for a couple of bucks more than the 6 and looks incredible: http://www.rondomusic.com/septor727tribalbluemn.html

I personally like these:

I found them to be pretty good for the price. Look out for Black Friday Sales, you may be able to save a good amount on these guitars and on others.

Niceeee. I'm liking that xpt700. What do you guys think of this guitar?

Looks like everything i want at a good fraction of the price of the schecters i was dead set on before. I actually like this guitars looks better than the schecter hellraiser i was going to get. I don't mind them being no name actives either as long as they're okay. I'm running a b52 at 112 right now so i think they'll complement each other well. Do you think this guitar will rival my schecter damien and my jackson kelly?

which guitar do you like between the schecter and jackson regarding tone? because that agile is alder so it will sound more similar to your jackson than schecter.

I like the schecter better but i can get them to sound the same with a little eq usually. I also think that because they're active pickups it'll sound closer to my schecter with the emg's in it. I know they're not both emg's but i know they'll have more similar qualitys than the jackon and the agile.

honestly the pickups on almost any agile guitar besides the ones with real emg's are gonna suck and probably should be replaced so dont base your decision solely on the pickups

Yeah. I'm not. I know they're not going to be the best but they'll be better than stock passives is what i'm saying. I'll probably be putting an emg set in there after a while anyways.

It depends, hallmark has nice ones but they're a bit too expensive for you. About $50 to $75 too expensive if you go for their Mark II copies which aren't out yet but you could also get a cheapo guitar and mod it. (You probably wouldn't want to do that though, Would you? I like doing it but its not everyone's cup o tea) And there is also guitarfetish, They have some new Jaguar copies for $200 to $23o or so but I don't know how good they are. Check 'em out!
