I was listening to my iPod and came across this song that I used to never listen to, it's the version on Greatest Hits 3 which I rarely listen to.

Listening to the guitar solo the tone and playing sounds exactly like Joe Satriani, it's a very different tone to May, the guitar sounds too much like Satch but I can't find him credited anywhere. I instantly recognised it as very similar to The Extremist kind of tone.

Did Satriani play/record this release? I know it was a late release as a single (95?)

no it was Brian May

What did he use to sound exactly like Satch?

Was it the Red Special still?

It's obviously subjective but I can hear a very clear difference between the Red Special on tracks like Don't Stop Me Now and any of Satrianis work.

This can be continued in the Queen thread if necessary.

How to achieve Frank Zappa's guitar tone:
Quote by Thefallofman
Step 1: Buy a Gibson SG
Step 2: Insert Green Ringer, EQ, 3 dead squirrels and a microwave into said SG
Step 3: Plug in and freak the **** out.
