if you guys could tell me if this setup would be any good and wether they are compatible.

different cab would be better, otherwise, great!!!

look at Carvin for the cab I'd say, might get to have a fridge or a full stack.

It should make a great setup. You shouldn't run into any compatability issues. As long as the cabinet ohms don't drop below the amplifier's lowest ohms operating capability, you're good.

Get a different cab to start of with, What about an SWR 4x10, really great cabs.
Yamaha TRB1006
Fender MIA jazz bass
Hora Hybrid double bass
Hartke lh 500
Ev 606L
Epiphone les paul

have you heard bad things about the cab? i just assumed that its a pretty expensive cab and i can get it for about 1/4 of the rrp, so it wojuld be a good deal?.

It probably has to do with the fact that a lot of people on this forum don't seem to like GK. Hey, fourms are largely about opinions, right? Plenty of professional bassists from all genres of music play GK gear and they sound great. GK's Backline series has not been up to par with their higher end gear, but that is not a Backline cab. Like the SWR amplifier you have chosen, the cab is just fine, and it should serve you well.

I don't know if it will you bother you, but the GK cab is an odd shape. If you want a stack eventually, that may piss you off with a regular square cab :P I know it would piss me off, so figured it was worth a mention.

Like everyone else said, I've heard lots of good things from higher end GK, especially -dare I say it?- TB

ok thanks very much for the help.
greatly appreated.

the tweeters are a little too strong on GK gear.

and to be honest, I mistook it for a backline. not my taste, but it will be fine.
