Do you know how to solder?

If not, I'd get an old stereo/vcr or whatever from Goodwill, open it up and practice soldering wires and desoldering the from components on the board. Don't do it with a TV and stay away from any large capacitors.

Use .032 60/40 rosin core solder.

If you develop the confidence through that exercise, then go for it.

If you cripple yourself or burn the house down then take it to a pro.

Once you have the basic skill, this is one of the simplest projects you can do. Check out Seymour Duncan's video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jgib50ROqRc

He also gives a great tip for restringing in the vid, too.

I'd save a little longer and get this instead:

It's worth it for the extra fret & better quality.

I have both 21 fret & 22 fret Strats and wish I'd spent the extra $$$ for the 22d fret back then.

Another consideration is Strat Top Hat knobs look silly on a push-pull. Maybe this is a better pot for you with this knob (they have it in black, too):

If you get really ambitious, add a 5-way superswitch and you can wire it up like a Deluxe.

But you can get around to that later. The coil shunt is enough for now.

PM me and I can tell you how to wire the S-1 switch if you get stuck.
