Hey guys.

So yeah i've been checking out these two pedals to go with my Valveking 212, to tighten up my tone and so i can play some more of the high gain stuff.

Ibanez Tube King TK999HT

Digitech Bad Monkey

Also just wondering if these pedals are true bypass or not?

(I'm into bands like Mastodon, Pearl Jam, Lamb Of God, Kings Of Leon)

Cheers.

Neither. Get an Ibanez TS7/9 or a good EQ. The Tube King's frequency reponse is completely wrong for tightening up an amp. The Bad Monkey's is much better but still not as good as a TS7/9 IMO. It doesn't cut enough bass.

EDIT: +1 to CatharsisStudios' recommendation of the SD-1. It's similar to the TS7/9 but with a different harmonic structure.

Also, none of these are true bypass. I wouldn't worry too much about that.

Why not TS9?

I edited my original post. They're practically the same thing but the TS7 is $40 while the TS9 is $99.

The Bad Monkey is true bypass, and it's probably one of the best boosts with the VK.

I don't trust Ibanez pedals anymore, especially the Tonelok series (the TS7).

Be warned that Ibanez pedals have NO warranty. My WD7 (tonelok) faulted after about 2 months. I suppose the TS9 is reliable, but just be careful with the TS7.
