just want to get some opinions on my situation. I have about $500 to get new equipment. Just a guitar and amp, here are my choices.

If you have decent guitar I would drop that five Hundy on a nice used tube amp.

considering that guitar isn't really a huge step up from a squier strat IMO drop all your cash on a nice used tube amp you'll be much happier in the long run

Get a 500$ guitar. The amp can wait.

Def a nice sounding guitar.
But try it out, see if you like it.

But that's one sick setup.
I wish I would of had that as my beginning setups

+100 Rondo music has some very nice guitars, and the Peavy will be much better than the Behringer. If I were you though honestly, I'd spend $500 on an amp and wait on the guitar. Squire Strats are pretty decent quality, and that low end Jackson isn't much of an upgrade.

Do you gig?

If not then you don't need a 120w ss amp! You could get a Vypyr 30w(which is plenty loud and a much better amp than the beringher) for $199 and then get the sanpera I footswitch which allows you to use the looper.

If you do need that much volume you cold get the 75w vypyr.

The guitar is not bad imo. But its smaller than a normal electric so I would get me one of these:

Well-
if you're unhappy with the playability of your guitar, and you gig, I'd spend $300 on the amp (fender superchamp XD) and $200 on the guitar (probably a cheap Ibanez)
If you're not gigging big-time then drop $500 on the guitar

just my opinion. If you're not happy with your guitar then don't go off buying some expensive tube amp, get a guitar you like first.

-Gibson LP VM
-Silvertone Kentucky Blue
-MXR CC Delay
-Ibanez TS-9
-Egnater Rebel 20
-Avatar 1x12

My rig is simple
Haha. UG's Chuck just said chuck. haha
You're not truly playing guitar unless you know theory.

If you gig I would plan on spending the 500 on a decent used tube amp. Unless you hate your guitar. The problem with upgrading a squire with anything worthwhile is that it will run you most of that 500 bucks. So, in your shoes I would decide if you really do not like your guitar, if not, blow your wad on a nice used guitar. If you can deal with your guitar, you can get a nice used tube amp for that 500.

The Fender Super Champ XC is very versatile and unbelievably good sounding for its price. Hard to beat for 300 bucks, comes with decent built-in effects, good at bedroom volumes and loud enough to gig. Probably not the amp if you play modern metal though. If you play one of these and like it, I would buy that and save the 200 towards a new guitar. Maybe plan on selling you current stuff to help make up the difference. till you have about 500.
There are other decent tube amps in the 300 range on the used market, check out some others too, but the SC XC is a screaming good deal.

What kind of music do you play? Bands you like? Where do you live?
