In a month I will be able to afford an acoustic guitar (for about around $200).

So I need advice. Should I buy an acoustic-electric or a regular acoustic?

I think a regular would be best because it is an actual acoustic guitar sound, but then again I may play some small open mic nights with my friend in the next year, so an acoustic- electric sounds fitting as well.

What's the best option?

I would suggest getting just a pure acoustic. In this lower price range, you don't really want to get electronics as they account for about $75+ in the guitar's price. As well, you don't sound like you'll be using it that much. For a small open mic night, using a microphone up to your guitar would probably be a better choice than a guitar with cheap electronics anyway.

For $200, you can get a Yamaha FG700S, which has a solid top. Very well built for the price and I would highly suggest it as will many others on this forum.
Equipment:
- Art & Lutherie Cedar CW (SOLD! )
- Martin D-16RGT w/ LR Baggs M1 Active Soundhole Pickup
- Seagull 25th Anniversary Flame Maple w/ LR Baggs Micro EQ

Thanks. I'll definitely get the pure acoustic.
