there are no shortcuts to drop your tuning. unless you use scizzors

Drop E
or one of the crazy tunings I like
EAEADgbe or CFCfad or ADADgbe or some variation of those

wouldnt the strings pretty much be loose as hell and have no tone/pitch if you go that far down?

I heard that warming up the stings by holding a lighter up against them helps too...

yeah i guess you could do that. it would be easiest with a tuner though

this NEVER WORKS. the tool you need is a FLAMETHROWER. a lighter isnt powerful enough. your just not br00tal unless you use a flamethrower

Playing death metal doesn't require an extremely low tuning... If you want to be a retarded arm flailing deathcore band then you will need to be as low as you can get. If it's for a real tech band being too low is probably bad, making the notes not understandable, lol.

Just go with something normal like D standard. that's what most use anyway.
Most people on UG aren't very nice.

That is my signature.

This is true.

on a standard scale 6 string guitar yes, I wasn't being completely serious with that one

and yet Meshuggah plays in F standard and they're one of the most technical bands I've ever herd. But really, you can play in any tuning you want.

Drop D or drop C. If you have a vocalist then do what better suits him/her, if it doesn't matter write a riff you like and try in both tuning and hear what sounds better.

EDIT: an alternative is drop Z. just keep turning the pegs till the strings fall right out.

C'mon, man. We're just kidding. We all know that drummers are important.

After all, without drummers, who would bag my groceries?

yeah tuning isn't that important
it's just how you play guitar
i've been surprised so many times by finding out a band i've thought plays in C or B actually plays in standard.haha
