Yes, the amp is 90% of your tone.

No. If you want better tone your best buying a new amp.

I don't think an RP55 would produce that good of a tone. I have an RP250 and it's a blast to just mess around with, but it never really gives that good of a tone and it will probably also suffer from being pushed through a First Act amp. You'd benefit a whole lot more from buying something like a Peavey Vypyr or a Roland Cube rather than an ME pedal. What's your budget? If you can afford it I'd suggest the thirty watt version of either the Vypyr or the Cube.

i currently hav $180 for a guitar and im saving for the dean MLX ($220). but once i buy that i was looking into buying a cheap ME pedal. my amp budget will probably be around $80-$100

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

Good. Not great or amazing or whatever. Nothing remarkable, but not bad.
