Verse:
Is that look in your eyes, a trick of the light
Making me blind to what's easy to find.
"All in good time," said a friend of mine,
said, "Forget about the girl while you've still got your mind."
But he'll waste his time on whiskey and wine,
I'll waste my time on you tonight.
"Paint on your smile," I said as I cried,
Even in your hate you're such a beautiful sight.

Chorus:
I've been here before,
Been knocking on that door.
And I know what it takes,
But I don't want it anymore.

Verse:
So you turn away and I lie to myself,
I say I'd be okay if I was somebody else.
But that ain't the truth I'd still wanna be with you,
Regret is a ghost that haunts me more than you do.
I've had my share of coulda-beens and shoulda-beens and why nots,
I swore I was better than a woulda-been but then again I swear a lot.

Repeat Chorus

Bridge:
I knew right away you had the best of me,
And honey that ain't a lot.
Still I get all wrapped up into what I'd rather be,
What I'd rather be and what I'm not.

Do you think things would change if she knew my name?
Would it be the same?

Final Chorus:
I've been here before,
Been knocking on this door.
And I know what it takes,
But I don't want it anymore.
I've been here before,
I'm knocking down that door.
And I knew what it would take,
But I don't want it anymore.
Forgive them Father, they know not what they do.

Thanks for the input, I guess it kind of does have that sort of feel to it. It sounds more Jason Mraz-ish than anything though. Do you think there's anything that should be changed though?
Forgive them Father, they know not what they do.
