It sounds a bit like power chords but I get the feeling he is playing power chords. Here's the video...

And here's a live version of the same song, You may be able to see what he's playing easier in this video.

for the verse, the pattern below is the one he plays, though sometimes he lets the bassist do the riff and he just strums once each chord..on the music video, he plays Am using his thumb for the sixth string, ring for 5th, pinky for 4th, and the index bars the other 3...

verse:
e|-------------------------------5----------------------------|
B|----------5--------------------5----------------------------|
G|----5----5--------------------5----------------------------|
D|----5----5----5---5----7----7------5---5----------------|
A|----3----3----5---5----7----7------5---5----------------|
E|---------------3---3----5----5------3---3-----------------|

pre chorus:
e|----------------------------------------------------------------------|
B|------------------------3---3----5---5----6---6-------------------|
G|--------2--------2-----4--4-----5---5----7---7-----4---4--------|
D|--2----2--------2-----4--4-----5---5----7---7-----5---5---------|
A|--2-----0-------0-----2--2-----3---3----5---5-----5---5---------|
E|--0---------3-----------------------------------------3---3---------|

last part is C Bb C Bb
