Just got this preamp yesterday....

Should this go to the fx loop of my randall rh100 head?

Which sounds best?

yes idealy.

I run through the normal input of my practise amp and it sounds sorta crappy :\
ENGL E530 pre amp
Marshall 8008 power amp
Vox Night train 1x12 cab

Dean Razorback V

Major Gas for an esp/ltd eclipse

so does it go guitar-->randall input-->randall send-->engl input-->engl output--> randall return?

Pre amps are designed to add distortion by boosting the signal going into a tube: it's going to sound crap on a solid state amp.

Otherwise, it's ment to go in the line before the amp's own pre amp and power amp

Yes, effects loop. Run the guitar into the preamp and the preamp into the effects loop return.

Guitar > e530 input

(one of the) e530 outputs > randall effects return.
