Hi UG,

Theres a few specific things I want about it though.

6 strings. (if that wasn't obvious)
My budget is around <US%600
EMG 81(b)/85(n) active pickup config.
No fancy floating whammy sorta bridge tremolo. I wouldn't use it.
24 frets
Locking tuners. (not absolutely necessary, but preferred)
Colors: black, gray, white, or a combination.
preferred shape is strat style or explorer shape.

So far I've looked at the Schecter Hellraiser and the ESP LTD H-1001. They look pretty good to me, but I want some other options. Thanks for your help.

Bands I like to play are In Flames, Arch Enemy, Dark Tranquility, that sort of tone.
My meh gear:
ESP LTD MH-400NT
Peavey Raptor Plus EXP
Digitech RP90
Digitech Bad Monkey
Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi (WTS)
Crate GT15 (SHIT)

GAS:
Peavey 6505 112 combo
MXR 10-band EQ
Ibanez TS-9
Boss HR-2
Compressor (open to suggestions)

Thanks for your input, but I'm not a big fan of the SG shape, and I haven't heard terrific things about Epiphone's metal oriented guitars.

Epiphone SG Prophecy EX. Enough said.

i played one, it's frets were small and hard to use..

That ESP looks like just what the doctor ordered, or the Jackson DKMGT.

It's a string through DKMG. the new ones come with 81 int he bridge and 85 at the neck, mine is a couple years old so it's got HZ's. check it out...

the epiphone prophecy series looks pretty good. They have other shapes besides the SG.

If you only use your crate, you might want to get a new amp first.

Yea, I'm planning on buying a 5150 or a similar (cheaper maybe) amp this christmas. But my guitar just has terrible output for metal. Stupid strat copy.

The frets are a little small, but when I played one, the action/ playability was just amazing. On top of that, it just looks amazing (Because who in the world doesn't have a plain black or red SG or Les Paul? Who doesn't?) I don't think they're that popular (I may be mistaken) so I thought I'd just throw it out there.
