OK so I'm starting to give up. I recently bought an old philips record player from what im guessing is the early 70s. Can any one help me identify it?

That is a record player. IDENTIFIED!
Blindfolds aside I'd probably still close my eyes

And try to feel a trembling fetal life inside
that shotgun barrel that's about to make me bleed

Like an ulcer in the stomach of the beast

Stylus? Are you talking about the foam pad that the record sits on, or the tip used to read the record? The things are old, I forget my termology.

The "needle."
TS surely there's some sorta shop you can take it into to be ID'd?

Oh, ok, now I remember, any needle will work, they all should pertty much be the same. I installed a new needle in a 1830 record player(the old ass hand crank ones with the big tuba thing to amplify) a few years back, just ordered one off the net, it fit, after some convencing, but it works great.

Pretty neat trick with the Edison. Must be a rare piece indeed. 1830's Edison phonograph. Edison wasn't born until 1847.
T/s Remove the stylus and take it with you to a Best Buy or similar place and just match it up.

You should be careful what you say. Some asshole will probably sig it.
