I own a Squier Affinity Tele and a Blues Deluxe and I have a bit of a problem dialing in a tone that suits both my bridge and my neck pickup.

Although I love my guitar, the bridge pickup is too damn bright. When playing at reasonably high volumes on it with an EQ that suits the mellowness of my neck pickup it basically makes my ears bleed.

I don't need help finding a good tone. I can find settings for each pickup that I am more than happy with. I'm just having a ton of trouble finding settings that suit both pickups.

Edit: Also, is this the right forum for this kind of question? I never use any of the guitar forums, I usually hang around MT and the bass forum (and of course the pit).
Only play what you hear. If you don’t hear anything, don’t play anything.

I don't really know, but when you turn to the bridge pickup, turn the tone down a bit. Or mod the guitar somehow and put another tone control on there so you have like two. And yeah. I dunno.

teles are made to be bright and twangy...

but i suggest rollingb ack the tone, it will remove alot of the twang.

Yeah I know that.

I guess I don't have a problem with the tone itself, just that it practically makes my ears bleed playing in my basement. Maybe if I turn the tone down during practice, but bring it back up for gigs that would be a practical solution?

1. Bite back treble EQ.
2. Begin practicing tone knob manipulation when switching pickups.
3. Lower volume, any treble too loud is going to hurt.
4. Angle amp. Does more than it sounds like it does.
