Is anyone else like me in that there are certain movies that just give you that feeling that you've entered another world?

There are exactly 4 movies that do that for me:

Star Wars IV,
LOTR, the two towers
Fear and Loathing in las Vegas
and The Last Unicorn.

what are your movies that allow you to forget reality?
#2
Definitely LOTR, can't think of any others off the top of my head, but I know the feeling you're talking about.

LOTR

Any of them. Watch it at night with the lights off and you almost think you're there.

I fully agree, I once watched the two towers and the return of the king while high
best 8 hours of my life (including extras and pee breaks)
they were so ****ing awesome. even when sober, I have yet to find equivalent fantasy movies.

The freaking NARNIA series certainly doesn't match up to the awesomeness.

I like the Narnia movies, but yeah, they aren't on the same level.

Harry Potter! Well the books did at least.

I watched Requiem for a Dream earlier, i must say i felt quite absorbed in that. Disturbing shit right there.

I seriously think, the only director that comes close to Hayao Miyazaki in cinematic immersion is George Lucas in the original Star Wars trilogy.

Miyazaki is a freaking genius. I have yet to see a film of his I didn't like.

I must add +100 to everyone who's mentioned hayao miyazaki.
that guy is a freaking cinema genious.

Thanks.

On topic, I'd add The Good The Bad and the Ugly, it just pulls me in every time I watch.
Also, Wall-E, The Exorcist and there is probably more I can't think of.

I always get sucked in to the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, though I've almost seen it too many times and have read the books twice.

Same for the Pirates movies, LotR, V for Vendetta, the Christian Bale Batmans, etc.

I watched that Imaginarium Of Dr. Parnussus the other day, that was a fucking trippy film. When the credits were rolling I felt like I was coming down from a week long LSD binge.

I always get a bit immersed in Serenity and Firefly, especially if I'm a bit tired.

I'm glad I got that in before I lost my temper with not being able to find anything as good as LOTR, Star Wars or Fear and Loathing.
