hey guys, ive decided that i want to check out some low wattage tube amps that i could use for practicing and recording.

im looking for a quality amp under 20-25 watts in almost any price range. i play a lot of different styles, so im basicallly looking for a nice warm amp with a good clean setting.

i dont really know where to start looking as far as brands go, so if you guys have any suggestions that would be very helpful.

thanks in advance!

Budget: very flexible here, can prob go up to $2000
Genres: rock, pop, blues, funk...oh and i never really play metal - just looking for something flexible
Used/New: either is fine with me
Location: im in the us so anything i can get in a shop or online is good
t00b/ss/modelling: looking for a small tube amp (under 20 watts) for home practicing and recording

hope that helps. ive been looking into used Carr and Cornford amps, do you guys have any opinions on those?

Dr. Maz 18

Vox AC30

A Marshall 18 watt combo clone?

Any of those would sound great

cornford is great, but likely to be very expensive in the states. You probably have better-value, homegrown alternatives, unless the cornford is doing the exact tone you want and nothing else you've tried can get the same tone.

Haven't tried carr, they have a great reputation, though.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

Vox AC4TV. Combo or half stack. 4w, all tube. AWESOME cleans, and a really nice overdrive.
