i have noticed that all jackson guitars come with seymour duncans, would it be wrong to put an emg in the bridge position and leave the other sd in the neck? i was thinking of doing this so i could replace the bridge pickup in my new ibanez sa260 this way i have a dominant guitar for metal and the other for more crunchier rock/alternative. good idea..suggestions welcome

Some Jacksons come with EMG pickups, but they're active pickups

And i think you'd be fine with EMGs in the guitar, but depends on which pickups you choose
#5
It's possible, but the EMGs need different pots than the SD, so you have to wire it in a special way, I'm sure someone else knows more about this.

what kindof EMG were you thinking?

well... honestly, it's not easy to combine active and passive pickups.

Bloody hell I read that as "it's easy to combine" and thought you were bat shit crazy for a second.

And ts while yes you can use an EMG and SD pickup even if the EMG is of the active kind. It's a bit complicated and is recommended to either stick with all active or all passive just to make things relatively simple for you.

hmm in which case might just leave my jackson how it is and put a seymour duncan in to the ibanez, was thinking SH-13/SH-15?

Yeah, uh, no.

Trust me, neither of those pickups would be good in the neck position.

SH-15/SH-10 might be good though.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

^^ i meant the bridge posistion, wont fit in my neck because its a single coil

Well in that case, SH-15 for sure. The dimebucker is bright as ****-all and really icepicky yet muddy at the same time.
