audacity

wrong answer, sorry. (audacity only records audio, not midi data)

to TS - do you want something free or what? but yeah, any DAW can usually record midi.

can't he record through a regular cable?

My drummer has an electric drumkit too, but he can just plug in with a regular guitar cable and things like that

don't know if your friend has a different type of drumkit though..

Thanks guys, he's trying out Cubase right now, if not that, then he'll try reaper and if that doesn't work we'll figures something else out.

EDIT: He tried Cubase but the sound quality was terrible, any suggestions??

Is the cable any good? Also, do you have an external sound card or whatever they're called? If not, I'm pretty sure you'll need one, or else the sound will be terrible.

sound quality...? midi data doesn't contain any sound. Do you want to record midi or audio?
