Hey, I'm wanting to get a new bass within next two years (i need to save the money, deciding now so I know what kind of money I need), and I'm wondering if Warwick customs are any good and if not what kind of bass I should go for. I play a lot of different kinds of music, I use a five string.
HAVE A NICE DAY!

If you know exactly what you want to make your sound, and you want it to be Warwick based. Then go ahead and go Warwick Custom Shop. IIRC, they are handmade, so you know it's going to be quality.

I believe Delirium has one, he'll be able to tell you more than me.

But before going Custom shop, I'd play some Warwicks first to see if they are for you (I know I want one, I love them )

If you thought Warwicks were good... the customs are even better. I do indeed have one, and for me it's perfect. That's the thing- what's perfect for one may not be perfect for another.

Anyways, Warwicks now have a C shaped neck, so if you haven't tried any new ones, do. If you like the old neck, you can still get that through the custom shop. Warwick has a whole separate warehouse for it's custom shop woods- these are select woods- my swirly bubinga top is essentially bicoloured bubinga pommele and looks gorgeous, and the bubinga body has great graining and "beewing" effect to it. You can also specify things like weight for free- e.g. specify you want a lighter slab of whatever wood, since a lot of woods they use are heavy as sin. Warwick CS basses have a lot more handwork than production models. A spare set of EMP strings and a free (also heavy as sin ) flightcase is a bonus too

Here's a link to a thread on mine: https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1097691

I really should be a Warwick salesman

I'd go for a Warwick if you like the feel/tone. I, like many other bass forumers would sell my soul to get a Warwick.

Ibanez SR506BM
Ashdown Little Giant 1000w
Peavey TVX 115+410
A big ass upright

3k my arse. Mine was £1639. GM Jack got his for less than a grand, IIRC.

On the Warwick website, go to the Cuatom Shop hover over menu, and there should be pricelist. Click on that, then click on the UK flag next to something that sounds like it's the custom shop pricelist, and have a look at the prices for what you want yourself. Or post it here and I'll work it out for you, mainly because I want to know what it is you want You can knock a bit off the price you come to though, as a lot of places shoot a bit lower.

I swear someone said that...

So if custom shops are that cheap...

Why don't I just buy one of those instead of a Corvette...

1600 in English Pounds just about equates to about 3000 USD so that's probably where you heard it.

^ Warwick Customs do indeed cost about that much in USD. The bodies alone start at like $1600 (and go up to $9000 for some styles).

Wouldn't it be nice if we had an automatic currency conversion calculator? Running to google every time gets tiresome

On the subject of custom Warwicks, does anyone know if you can order just a body, with all the hardware, electronics, etc. without the neck and with a specified heel size? Or would that be a special custom (ridiculously expensive) order I'd have to contact them about, if they would do that at all?

Thanks man, I don't have a set budget but I'm 16 and haven't got a job (at the moment) so I have to be sensible, I'll have a look at the pricelist.
I'll tell you what I want when I decide :P

Oh, who else do custom basses, just to have a look at other options?

I'd be selling my 1963 Hofner for a Custom Wick if I did that

I'd go for something along the lines of a Stained Nirvana Black Corvette STD 4

a Custom Warwick from looking at the cost can actually be surprisingly affordable, get a job and with a little scrimping you'll have the money together.

i don't think it was ever answered but what type of bass are you going to get made up for you, spare no details.

Heh... I'm still not 100% on that, I'm wanting a 5 string for definite, still debating between fretted and fretless. As for the tone I'm unsure, my band play/will be playing (just started) several different styles of music, we all have very wide tastes in music, so im not sure, probably similar to Les Claypools. I'm fairly new to this. I like wood finishes and 5 piece neks.

At the moment I have a Ibanez K5 Fieldy, I love the balance and look of it but its my cousins, he lent it me indefinitely.

Any ideas or tips or whatever for the bass are appreciated, I want it to be pretty unique.

I highly recommend you use exam leave for what it's meant for- a bass can wait, education can't.

Don't worry man, my education will come first, I'm doing brilliant in school (I don't brag tho' :P ) and I won't through it away for a bass, no matter how big the temptation, my mates won't let me either, or my Dad.

I've a Warwick Streamer *.* model of the 90s
I love this bass

I'm sure you will like this custom Warwick

Tearcon if you have the cash i'd suggest going for a thumb body, i own one and i can tell you it feels like an extension of your body. i'm not a huge fan of the corvettes (i've only tried one or two, never a custom shop one) and the others are ridiculously expensive.
