So most maple guitar necks are made of easter maple... but why not western maple? I've heard because its not as hard, or as stable...
But is really that huge of difference in hardness of the two maples?
Is it impossible to use western maple for a guitar neck that would last?
Would it still bend and twist and warp with a truss rod and carbon fiber renforcements?

And what would actually happen if one did make a neck out of western maple? would it immediatly snap? or would it last and it just has a higher chance of something going wrong with it?

Has anyone ever tried make a neck out of western maple? and how has it held up?
