Hey. I'm 16 and have been playing guitar off and on for the past 2 years. Recently i've really been getting into it and playing my guitar every day. This spring some of my friends want to perform in our school's variety show. They want me to play the lead guitar part for New Divide by Linkin Park. I can play all of it at tempo except for the solo...

Is there anything I can do that can help me speed it up? Or should I just keep practicing guitar and put aside some time every week to work on the solo so by this spring i can hopefully play?

get out a metronome, and play the solo slow, make sure you play it perfect.

Use the metronome to help you keep time, once you play it perfect slow, speed it up a small amount, and keep doing this until you can play it at full speed. With this method, it will not take you long to master it.
