Hi all, I've been playing for about 1 year and I've hit a slump so to speak in my playing skills. I play for about 3-6 hours a day, this includes practicing scales, learning songs, and screwing around in general. I'm having trouble playing faster solos, particularly the two in aces high by iron maiden. Any practice tips? Really, any feedback would be appreciated.

Edit: Would you recomend getting a teacher?

Slow it down and break it into smaller parts. Gradually increase your speed as you get better.

Junior's usually at least a little terse, but he knows his stuff. I've always read his posts in a grouchy grandfather voice, a grouchy grandfather with a huge stiffy for alternate picking.
Besides that, he's right this time. As usual.

I would recommend practicing the scales used in the song until you can do them really fast. And yes, getting a teacher would help a LOT
