The days seem to get shorter as this cigarette burns to ashes
And the feelings I had yesterday are now disregarded
But this vivid memory, of which, I wish I could forgot
Burns hotter than the ashes of this dirty cigarette

And not only does it burn away at my lungs to the point, where it hurts to inhale
But the smoke blinds my eyes, so I am forced to face the demons in my memories without choice
The entry wound to a broken heart is tattooed on my chest
A bullet of a word is still lodged in my heart somewhere, I’m sure I’ll find that “love” again someday

Maybe there is no heaven, no lord above to save us all
And these prayers I’ve whispered before I went to sleep had no purpose
Perhaps the bible was written in pure spite of the world by a man who knew nothing of faith
But I still like to believe that the stars are just tiny holes to heaven

And love was another feeling I could never figure out
Why would anyone give away their heart to freely be broken?
No one deserves that kind of trust, because we are all the same
We are vultures who feed off emotion and have no remorse for the actions we partake in

If we all could learn, to take time to figure out our values, we would not have the problems we face now
To take time , sit back, smoke grass and look at the stars in an empty field in the back of a pickup truck
Look into the heavens, like there was something waiting for us
Maybe, just maybe, we could figure out emotions, such as pain, faith and love
"You've got to dance like nobody else is watching.
Dream like you will live forever.
Live like you're going to die tomorrow,
and love like it is never gonna hurt."
-- James Dean (1931-1955)
