Hey UG, I've been debating long an hard about this

Sterling ax20 electric guitar(maybe a schecter, heard they have thick necks)

Or

New amp and pickups for my les Paul

Idk if my amp is shit, decent, or amazing(probably not amazing )

But what do you guys think?

In startingto get into prog like rush tool btbam and dream theater, and a new amp needs to take pod2.0 nicely

I'll leave budget at like 600$

Also play blues and classic rock too, but mainly prog and rock, think acdc and led Zeppelin, and for guitars a thicker neck like a les paul would be great

I was under the impression schecter guitars tended to have thicker necks.

And I'd get a new amp

I coulda sworn it said thin on your post when I replied :P *looks at the edit time at the bottom of the OP*

My friend's c-1 Blackjack ATX had a neck that felt very similar to an lp. To me anyway

new amp - you can put the best pu's in your LP but if your amp is junk, it makes no difference in the end

Epi Les Paul Std w/Duncans
ESP LTD EX260
Cry Baby From Hell
Marshall JH-1
EHX Metal Muff
MXR EVH Phase 90
Carl Martin Classic Chorus
EHX #1 Echo
Ibanez LU-20
Dunlop DCB-10

Any amp suggestions for him practice, maybe a small gig later on?

If it's tube I'd like either a master volume control for gain, or a gain knob

If it's ss no moddeling, I have the pod 2.0 already

Sorry that this is done so much, I'm just paying for all ofthis myself and I'm only 17, so I kinda want to get the best out of my money.

Oh and I'm replacing the pickups anyway in my lespaul if I get a new amp.

Stock pickups are teh shiz. Lol
