Pedals wont go well with a modelling amp

Don't take this as it sounds, but I'd save up and buy a new amp instead of just replacing one channel.

But if you must get a new distortion pedal, check out the Keely mod site. I'd suggest the DS-1 mod or the Metalzone twilight modded.

A pedal to replace your amp? As in running direct from pedal to PA/front of house mixer?

Sounds awful, IMO. I second the 'get a new amp' advice. Best bet.
Do you feel warm within your cage?

And have you figured out yet -

But it's much cheaper to just use my bass amp, and I prefer the sound. Pedal advice? Please?

and is this for guitar or for bass?
if it's for guitar it won't be that good for the speakers... and the amp won't receive the pedal that good

your best bet would be to just get a new decent amp, except if it's for bass ofcourse...

This is for guitar. And it's fine for the speakers. Remembering that many guitar amps are 112 or 212, using a 410+115just tightens the highs and has 8r00t4lz lows. Most pedals just process the signal, whast's wrong with that? Let me rephrase my thread *edits*.

Dude. Get a multi effects pedal. Plug that into a shitty amp (like I do) then you can get good sounds out of it through the Pedal...

Do you just want a Distortion Pedal. If you get a Multi effects pedal you can get different types of distortion on that.

Oh OK. I have not tried any of the Boss DS pedals but Boss products seem generally good. I was looking at them on the internet once and there is a DS2 which seems Ok....

Ok thanks. I was also thinking of this EHX or this Boss.

Any thoughts on those? Budget is £100 absolute max, I'd prefer something more of the £50 area.

I think the Boss is £10 cheaper. Buuut.... Hmmm. I think I like the EHX better atm, cos it has more tone shaping.

Either ^ this or the EHX

For your budget I'd say the EHX is more viable and can be tweaked for an excellent tone

Also, being through a bass amp I'm sure a lot of the "fizziness" will be negated

On the one hand I commend you for actually knowing a distortion pedal is used to replace amp distortion. I've come across far too many people adding them on top of their amp distortion.
On the other hand I think you're a raging eejit for not flogging your amps, saving up more and then just buying a decent amp outright.

Anyway.

Best distortion pedals on the market at the moment at reasonable prices are the Digitech HardWire Valve Distortion and Metal Distortion (depending on how ''br00tal'' you want to go). Built more solidly than anything else around, true bypass and more flexible controls than anything else I've come across.
Yes, I know everything. No, I can't play worth a damn.

I've heard Danelectro pedals are nice. I've looked into the Black Metal Coffee pedal and it seems good to me, especially the price, but I don't know how it is compared to other pedals. I'm actually in sort of the same situation as you, except I'm looking for a pedal that would work with metal tube amp(hopefully getting soon)
#32
Hardwire pedals. Between the Metal and the Valve distortion pedals, you should be able to make it work.
#34
I tried the Metalzone and Metalcore in comparison to the Metal Muff, and there was no contest really.
