Alright I am trying to get a 24 fret guitar for around $300 bucks around Christmas time.
I am thinking of:
-ESP LTD EC-50
-ESP LTD VIPER-100 FM
-DEAN Dave Mustaine VMNTX
-Jackson JS30KV
-Jackson JS30KE
-ESP LTD V-200
Please help me decide which is the best of those, and please list some good metal guitars for 200-350 price range. I am looking for 24 frets to play solos (I only have a crappy 21 fret Squier), good pickups, good distortion and metal sound, good quality and a nice shape (SG, Les Paul, V or Xplorer).

LTD M-100FM.

And since when do you need 24 frets for solos? Most people manage fine with 21 or 22.
Also, amp before guitar. The AMP does the distortion and "metal sound".
Current Gear:
LTD MH-400 with Gotoh GE1996T (EMG 85/60)
PRS SE Custom 24 (Suhr SSH+/SSV)
Ibanez RG3120 Prestige (Dimarzio Titans)
Squier Vintage Modified 70s Jazz V
Audient iD22 interface
Peavey Revalver 4, UAD Friedman BE100/DS40
Adam S3A monitors

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

21 frets are too little but 24 is too much. i never go past 22 frets on my jem
and amp then we'll talk

Just get one with 22 frets, you really don't need 24. Oh and for good distortion and sound get a better amp.

Go Ibanez. Ibanez frickin' rocks.
Amon Amarth to Frank Zappa
and everything in between.
