my friend wants a tuner pedal for his birthday and he doesnt gig. is that a bit werid or that just me? do you have to gig to use a tuner pedal? or is there another reason for it?

o and just in case you guys call me cheap ass for not just getting it for him, i already bought one for him

you don't have to be gigging... it's handy in so many ways, such as:

-you don't have to unplug and re-plug to tune up
-you don't even have to bend down
-handy if you change tunings all the time
-stompboxes are designed to take a lot of punishment, so he's less likely to break it and need a new one

its handy especially if you use a pedal board anyway, that way instead of tuning your guitar with a handheld or by ear its just quick simple and more percise

Nah, you don't have to be gigging. Sure it's immensely useful when you are gigging but it's also a pretty essential in any rig IMO. Unless your a purist and don't need pedals
