Do you use malfunct gear for their uniqueness???

Both Slash and Tom Morello had messed up Les Pauls.

The guitar was the one Slash used to record SCOM. He lost the Les Paul though and says he can't recreate the tone anymore.

Tom still has his.

Tom also likes his Wah Pedal because it sounds different from all the other ones. Even the ones of the same brand.

So...?

I use a guitar which I routed out for no particular reason, partly coz I was gonna chuck the guts of an OD pedal in there, before my band account ran out.
It also has completely fucked up electronics, ie. 3 way switch that only has two actual selections, on/off volume knob, piezo pickup under the bridge, etc.
It's also got an insanely high action
But I really like it, and I have no idea why

The only malfunctioning gear I have is leads with shorts in em

I plan to steal a lead from my music class at the end of the year, since I'm dropping the subject.

Why do you post like this?

I think the extra line breaks give it an awkward feeling.

I'm not sure why you would want
to do that.

It seems

chopped up. I find it strange and annoying.

My amp accidentally got mixed up with my microwave when sending it for repair.

It can now warm up noodles, does that count?

Anyway, on the more serious side, I actually have some sort of similar thing on my current guitar.

I messed up the wiring for position 4, to be a weird double hum bucking phase shift.

It gives an awesome clean tone. Very rich.

In Slash's autobiography, he says he used '....an amazing flame top 1959 Les Paul replica with no pickguard, and 2 Seymour Duncan pickups' on the AFD album.

Yes, it was a '59 replica made by some luthier he met.

Yeah I think products that don't meet specs when they leave the factory, like Toms wah, are pretty cool. It does give someone a truly unique tone. I reckon that's why so many people prefer vintage gear, because there were lower tolerances and quality control which mean't every amp or pedal was unique.

How on earth do you "loose" a guitar?

My room is a mess, but I still can't loose something like a guitar in it.
Was it stolen? Or did he actually loose it?

I don't think he lost it, I think he sold to support his heroin addiction at the time.

I know too much about that dude

I have no choice but to use ****ed up cables and a guitar that is missing all the locking head thingies, a high E string, has ****ed up other strings and was never that crash hot to start with in the "staying in tune" area.

but i still love that guitar. with such a passion.
It has come to my recent attention that our good friend CoreysMonster is not permanently detained in the Fotb.
