Ok, 2 questions here. First one can you still buy the Mesa V-Twin pedal from a store new and second is it high gain enough for Metallica sound?

Thanks.

I have the rack version,

its a preamp so to get its real good sound you will need a decent power amp

it's been discontinued from production so you need to check 2nd hand

it has enough drive to handle Metallica for sure on its own, and it has one of the best cleans i've seen on an amp with such drive!

Also check out Mesa's old 'Bottle Rocket' if you're thinking of using it as a stompbox.

For live use, make sure you've got a nice power amp (6L6s tend to work best) with good speakers or you won't get great results out of the V-Twin.

I second the Bottle Rocket as well... althou its not as well know as the V-Twin.

Fleabay is your best bet, just make sure it comes with the original power source.

it's so cool to hate Gibson, even the federal Department of Justice hates them.
