Finally got my Les Paul in its amazing and sounds great having to get a fret dressing done though before it gets set up. Came with a hardshell case for 700 USD a pretty good deal if you ask me.

I have the same problem. I rest my hand on there and I always forget to wipe that area. I've searched around and saw people use Nevr-Dull. I haven't tried myself though.
