i know this is a very noobish question, but i want to lower my les paul action (as you can probably tell by the name of this thread) and i wasnt exactly sure on how to do it. is it as simple as just turning the screws on the bridge? im not sure and i dont want to damage my guitar by doing something i shouldnt

yes. Just turn the thumb wheels on the bridge. Do a slight loosen, re tune, and check for buzzing. Continue till each side is to your looking.(each side will move a different amount before buzzing)
