will there be a huge difference in tone and loudness if i swap out only 1 speaker as opposed to 2 (all, in my case)?

are there any obvious problems that could occur.

ive got a spider III 2X10 just so ya know.

I'm not the most educated when it comes to amps and speakers but i'm guessin there shouldn't be a problem as long as u make sure all the watts and things match. There's tons of cabs out there that have different speakers in them. For example the Mesa Boogie Raod King series (http://www.mesaboogie.com/Product_Info/Guitar%20Cabinets/RoadKingCABS/RK-4x12SDsl-LG.htm) it has 4 speakers, 2 C90's and 2 V30's. Also, this way you can mix and match different speakers till you get a killer tone!

dont doit. it wont make a differentce with your current amp. isntead of spending $120 or more in a new pair of speakers, get a better amp. It will give a MUCH better tone that your amp with any speakers.

Spider III is a pretty awful amp. Don't know if that's to do with the speaker or not though.

Swapping just the one speaker seems very odd.
