hi i am new to cabs and head as i have been using a combo my whole life but i have recently bought a SWR Working Pro 400 bass Amp. it says 4 ohm min total on the back. can someone give me a brief explanation of what cabs will work or be suitable for it? do i need to get a 400 watt or less cab for does it not matter. im thinking of buying
Trace Elliot 1048H
300 watt 4x10" & horn @ 8Ω Made in UK. Loaded w/ as new Lorantz speakers
would this be suitable and if so do you think it would make a good setup?
also because the speakers have been changed does that mean reviews i have read about the cab will be unrealated, or is there more to a cab than just the speakers.
any help would be greatly appreated
cheers

that cab can't handle the 400 watts of the SWR Working Pro 400.

EDIT

Do you want 2x15,4x10,8x10 cab?
Are you gigging the amp?
Are you brand specific?
IS weight an Issue?
Damn it! Disable can't use disable to disable Disable's disable because disable's disable has already been disabled by Disable's disable!

Okay guys, I have a confession to make. Not really a confession since it's something that's been bugging me for awhile but I've always been in denial about it.

**** you gilly, it's not what you think

That will all be fine, those speakers i hear are very good. The head can work at a minimum of 4 ohms, and that cab is 8 ohms, o at 4 ohms it is putting out 400 watts and at 8 ohms around 250watts, so everything is fine. And a great setup if you get the SWR and the trace elliot. Two get 400 watts out you will need another 8 ohm cabinet.
Even if the cab was 4 ohms at 300 watts it would still be fine as those speakers are modern and well able to handle 400 watts as long as you dont clip the signal.

EDIT: ^ were do some people get their info is what i wont to know.
Yamaha TRB1006
Fender MIA jazz bass
Hora Hybrid double bass
Hartke lh 500
Ev 606L
Epiphone les paul
