I bought an Oversized Mesa Recto 4x12 off a guy I know for $400! The only real 'damage' is 2 holes in the grill.

This thing sounds so huge and beastly, and I was surprised to find there was a little bit more of a high end than on my 2x12. I'm thinking that was just because the speaker is closer to my ear but it required compensation either way.

Anyway now for the only thing you guys care about.... (sorry had to use my phone for now)

If by "clean" you mean "get a finger right up in there and do a good bit of spelunking" then i guess "at any given opportunity" is my answer.

Mesa Cabinets use Celestion Vintage 30 speakers.
That extra "high end" you're hearing is normal for those speakers.

Yeah well I have the same speakers in my 2x12 so it has to be that the speakers are closer to my ears than normal.
